Photos From the stopovers in Urumqi and Beijing

Figure D17. Urumqi/Tien Chi. We had a day free so we traveled up to the "heavanly lake", a glaciated lake north of Urumqi. Unfortunately it was a cold, very foggy day so the views weren't so great. Nevertheless, the food was EXCELLENT. Here is a view of the table in mid-meal.

Figure D18. Urumqi/Tien Chi. A view of Tien Chi when the fog began to lift a bit..

Figure D19. Urumqi/Tien Chi. Another view of Tien Chi.

Figure D22. Beijing/Great Wall. Well, I finally made it to the Great Wall, but again the weather was not very cooperative, and the fog was quite heavy. Didn't seem to make it any less popular a destination, however, as you might gather from the crowds in this photo.
